The Maths and Applied Sciences Club held a hands-on seminar on Markov chains, focusing on the mathematics behind applications such as Google’s PageRank algorithm. The session introduced students to states, transition probabilities, stochastic matrices and the idea of memorylessness. The speakers also demonstrated how Markov chains can be implemented in Python and used to simulate state transitions. A simple PageRank example helped connect the mathematical concepts with a familiar real-world application, followed by an interactive Q&A with the students.
